Dr Františka Schormová Received an Award from the American Comparative Literature Association

Graduate of the Department of Anglophone Literatures and Cultures at CU FA, Dr Františka Schormová, received an honorary mention in the Bernheimer Prize awarded by the American Comparative Literature Association for her dissertation “African American Poets Abroad: Black and Red Allegiances in Early Cold War Czechoslovakia.”

Freemovers from Ukraine and Scholarship Holders of Boris Nemtsov Have Met with the Representatives of CU FA

Since the beginning of the armed conflict in Ukraine, our faculty has accepted more than 40 students from Ukraine. Most of them are “freemovers” – students who still study at Ukrainian universities but cannot continue there with their studies.

The Department of Education Co-Organizes Conference Pedagogization in Identity Formation and Professionalization

The international conference with the subtitle “Role of Science, Knowledge Transfer, Education and Youth Social Care” takes place in the Pedagogical Museum of J. A. Comenius and at the Department of Education on 23–24 June. The main topics of the conference are the significance of pedagogical institutions and organizations, forming of professional and personal identity.

The 3rd World Congress of Scottish Literatures Is to Be Held at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University

On 22–26 June, the Department of Anglophone Literatures and Cultures at CU FA will welcome around 150 delegates from all over the world at the congress, the main programme of which will take place in the main building of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. The congress is co-organized with International Association for the Study of Scottish Literatures.

Young Academics from Abroad May Apply for up to a Two-Year Stay at CU FA through JUNIOR Fund

For the last two years, Dr. Anežka Kuzmičová (Institute of Czech Language and Theory of Communication) has conducted creative research into children’s reading. Researchers often emphasise literacy and language acquisition but there has been little study of what children experience as they read: what they take in from stories and what stays with them afterwards.

The third and last meeting of the Teaching European History in the 21st Century project took place on 20–22 May. The focus of the ISP was mainly the critical discussion about selected chapters from the forthcoming transnational textbook of European history along with a collective production of video lectures, on which students cooperated with the authors of the chapters.
